HEP Supply landscapes throughout Croatia and plants trees around hydropower plants

Zagreb, 26 April 2014 – HEP Supply, winner of this year's GREENOVATION award for the ZelEn project, in the category of best total programme of the Croatian green economy, launched the initiative of 'A Hundred Green Trees' on the ocassion of the Earth Day and the World Sustainable Energy Day, including landscaping and planting one hundred trees around 26 HEP's certified hydropower plants.

HEP Supply thus wishes to contribute to the UN programme launched in 2010 titled ' A Billion Acts of Green – an international movement to protect the planet and secure a sustainable future'. 'We believe in a large potential of our hydropower plants, which as a renewable energy source play an important role in environmental protection. In 2013, 8 TWh of electricity was produced by our

hydropower plants, accounting for 55% of HEP's total generation. This is historically second to record high 8.3 TWh recorded in 2010. Due to such potential and certification of all HEP's hydropower plants, we can offer to our customers ZelEn, green energy produced solely from renewable sources. Such energy has already been used by more than 20 companies in Croatia. HEP Supply continues to invest in sustainable development through its initiative 'A Hundred Green Trees', which has started today by planting first trees around Ozalj hydropower plant as part of the UN international programme for fostering personal contribution of each individual as well as organizations, companies and governments in reaching a common goal – sustainable life and development', said Tina Jakaša, director of HEP Supply during the initiative launch at Ozalj hydropower plant.

ZelEn and ELEN: HEP's two new market trump cards

Zagreb, 25 February 2014 – Under strong competition and saturated market, companies which do not innovate stagnate, and stagnation leads to dying.

In a broad sense of the word, innovation is every activity which reduces inputs i.e. cost of production and administration, increases productivity or use of equipment or time, improves product or service quality, increases security, reduces waste, furthers market placement etc, i.e. every measure that leads to better competitiveness. As the role of innovation in energy is of particular importance, HEP decided to market two new products- ZelEn and ELEN.

HEP Supply, leading electricity supplier on the Croatian market, has recently presented its ZelEn product, electricity generated solely from renewable sources. ZelEn, coined from Croatian words Zelena Energija (Green Energy), is a unique product on the Croatian market intended for electricity customers with annual consumption exceeding 1 GWh (1 million kWh).
