FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


1. What is ZelEn?


The name ZelEn is a combination of words Zelena Energija, which is also the basis of the product – electric energy received from renewable sources. Electricity used by ZelEn buyers is generated solely from HEP's hydro renewable sources, which is proven by retiring a sufficient number of guarantees of origin in the Registry of Guarantees of Origin managed by the Croatian Electricity Market Operator (HROTE).
All ZelEn buyers can use a protected ZelEn mark on their promotional materials and products. In this way when on a certain product you recognize the ZelEn mark, you will know that “green” electric energy way used for its production. Also, all funds raised by the sales of the product HEP will use for financing similar projects.



2. Who can buy ZelEn?


HEP Opskrba´s customers who are showing a socially responsible attitude, caring about environmental preservation and additionally encouraging production of energy from renewable sources.



3. Why would a company choose ZelEn instead of “regular electricity”?


There is a number of companies in the Croatian market that are socially responsible and environmentally aware, and now they have an opportunity to use energy received exclusively from renewable sources. Along with that, we believe that Croatian consumers will know how to award the companies that care about the environment, and in the future this care will be proven with the protected ZelEn mark.



4. How do you know that the energy used is in fact energy from renewable sources?


Electricity used by ZelEn buyers is generated solely from HEP's hydro renewable sources, which is proven by retiring a sufficient number of guarantees of origin in the Registry of Guarantees of Origin managed by the Croatian Electricity Market Operator (HROTE).



5. What is the price for ZelEn energy? What is the price difference between “regular” and “green” electricity?


The price of ZelEn is humble 20 eurocents, or something more than a kuna/MWh. For instance, a company paying today 225.000 kn for electric energy, will be paying 1.000 kunas more per month for ZelEn.



6. Weren't companies already giving a certain fee for renewable sources?


In accordance with the Provisions on compensation for the promotion of electricity from renewable energy sources all buyers of electric energy are required to pay a fee in the amount of 0,035kn/kWh. Our new ZelEn product is voluntary, and will be payed only by the companies that choose to do so.
